In Memory of Mike Broderick

Calm and ready to run just before MMT 100 Miler, 2007

He who has gone, so we but cherish his memory, abides with us,
more potent, nay, more present than the living man.

  1. Wonderful, K. Just wonderful. I've a little something cooking about Mike myself, but it won't come close to making people smile as much as your tribute here. You rock, chica!

  2. I wasn't lucky enough to meet Mike, but got to interview him over the phone for a few stories ... he was always as gracious and kind as he was knowledgeable. What a lovely and fitting tribute this is!

  3. I did not know Mike, but was stunned to discover he ran WS this year and is gone five months later. Life is indeed too short. Here in OHio we just, last week, lost an ultra runner too, Mike McCune. I hope our friends are running beautiful trails out there.

  4. Beautiful tribute to Mike. Mike was my father's law partner for many years. We are so lucky to have been touched by his life. --Kelly Donovan Williams

  5. The service for Mike will be on Monday, November 15 at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home located at 11800 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring (301) 622-2290. Visitation will be from noon to 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service, guest speakers and video collage of Mike’s life. My understanding is that guest speakers will include Mike’s father (a retired judge), The Honorable H. Richard Duden, III (AADC) and The Honorable Irma S. Raker (Court of Appeals). Here is a link to the funeral home:

My father, Mike's law pArtner, tells me the obituary will be in tomorrow’s (11/11) Washington Post. Please pass this along to others who knew Mike. Thank you.

  6. I didn't know Mike, but I got my RRCA certification under him last April. He touched many lives and will surely live on in all the runners he's influenced over the years.
